Esteemed veteran actor Vyjayanthimala Bali was honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award on Thursday, recognizing her remarkable contributions to the field of art. The Civil Investiture Ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu presented her with the award.
For the occasion, Vyjayanthimala adorned herself in a resplendent yellow saree paired with a vibrant red blouse, radiating elegance and grace.
Recently, the legendary actress had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai. PM Modi, taking to social media platform X, shared glimpses of their meeting, expressing his admiration for Vyjayanthimala’s illustrious career in Indian cinema. In one of the images, PM Modi can be seen extending his greetings to Vyjayanthimala with folded hands.
Vyjayanthimala made her remarkable debut in the world of cinema at the tender age of 16 with the Tamil film ‘Vaazhkai’ in 1949. Over the years, she graced the silver screen with iconic performances in movies like ‘Devdas’, ‘Sangam’, ‘Madhumati’, and ‘Naya Daur’, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Padma Awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, are bestowed in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, recognizing exceptional contributions across various fields such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, literature, sports, and more. These prestigious awards, announced annually on Republic Day, honor individuals for their distinguished service and exemplary achievements.
