Walton Goggins’ SNL Debut Brings Laughter, Love, and White Lotus Reunions

Walton Goggins’ first time hosting Saturday Night Live was cheered on by his White Lotus co-stars, family, and famous friends, as he reflected on late-career fame and embraced the spotlight with humor.

Walton Goggins made a memorable Saturday Night Live debut on May 9, hosting the penultimate episode of the show’s 50th season — and he wasn’t short on support. Among those in the audience cheering him on were his White Lotus co-stars Michelle Monaghan and Sam Rockwell, as well as several close friends and family.

Monaghan, who played Jaclyn in Season 3 of The White Lotus, posted a joyful recap on Instagram, calling the night “an absolute hoot.” Sharing selfies and backstage photos — including one of Goggins’ wife, Nadia, and teenage son Gus — she praised her former co-star: “Walt, you killed it brother! As did this epic crew of rascals.”

Goggins responded warmly in the comments, writing, “It lit me up seeing your face in the audience. Every frame… I want you in… and to be in all of yours, sister.”

The star-studded support didn’t end there — actors Justin Theroux, Gina Gershon, and Righteous Gemstones co-star Danny McBride also joined the post-show celebration inside Studio 8H.

Goggins used his opening monologue to poke fun at his rise to fame thanks to The White Lotus, joking, “No spoilers, but I die,” and adding that his brooding character somehow became a sex symbol. “If I’m being honest, it feels fantastic,” he said, although he did admit headlines about his “receding hairline” and “bulging eyes” stung a bit.

Notably absent from the event was fellow White Lotus castmate Aimee Lou Wood, who previously criticized SNL’s parody of her character. However, she made it clear there was no bad blood with Goggins, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I loved working with Walton,” and calling their time on the show “the best thing ever.”

The final episode of Saturday Night Live Season 50 airs Saturday, May 17 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Season 3 of The White Lotus is available for streaming on Max.
