New Delhi, May 8:
Actress Wamiqa Gabbi is gearing up for the digital release of her upcoming romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, and she’s hopeful that the film will mark a defining moment in her career. Co-starring Rajkummar Rao, the film premieres on Prime Video on May 16, skipping its earlier planned theatrical release.

“I hope Bhool Chuk Maaf becomes that milestone in my career,” Wamiqa said, recalling her reaction to the film’s script. “I was laughing through the entire narration. It was hilarious on paper, and I knew it would be so much fun to make. When I learned that Rajkummar Rao was part of it, I got even more excited. The cast is really interesting.”

Directed and written by Karan Sharma, and backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, Bhool Chuk Maaf marks the first on-screen collaboration between Wamiqa and Rajkummar.

Reflecting on the shoot in Varanasi, Wamiqa added, “I cannot forget shooting in the scorching May-June heat of Banaras. That memory is going to stay with me forever.” Despite the intense weather, she described the entire filming process as “a very good experience.”

Originally slated for a theatrical release on May 9, the film’s debut has now shifted to streaming due to “recent events and heightened security drills across the nation,” according to an official statement from the makers. Maddock Films emphasized in a social media post that the “spirit of the nation comes first,” while announcing the OTT release.

The Jubilee actress also reminisced about her breakout role in the critically acclaimed period drama series. “‘Jubilee’ was very special to me,” she said. “A lot of people in the industry saw it and were impressed. It was my special moment — a turning point.”

Now, with Bhool Chuk Maaf, Wamiqa is ready to deliver another memorable performance and hopes it resonates just as strongly with audiences.
