War 2: NTR’s Telugu Version Dominates US Market with Higher Ticket Prices Than Hindi

July 19, 2025: The highly anticipated film War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, is all set for a global release on August 14, 2025, with premieres scheduled in the USA on August 13. The action-packed sequel will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, but it’s the Telugu version that’s making headlines — and not just for the star power.

According to reports, the ticket prices for the Telugu version in the USA are significantly higher than the Hindi version. While regular theatres are charging $18 for the Hindi premiere, the Telugu version costs $25. Similarly, in Premium Large Format (PLF) screens, the Hindi version is priced at $22, while the Telugu version costs $30. The IMAX and 4DX formats show an even starker contrast — $27 for Hindi and a whopping $35 for Telugu.

This pricing strategy is being attributed to Jr. NTR’s massive popularity among Telugu audiences in North America. His last film, Devara, had a stellar premiere performance, collecting over $2 million on its opening night alone. With such strong fanbase support, distributors seem confident that the Telugu version of War 2 will draw in bigger crowds — and higher returns.

Interestingly, while Hrithik Roshan has an established fanbase in the West, it’s the sheer volume of Telugu-speaking audiences in North America that’s tilting the scales in favor of the Telugu release.

Meanwhile, the Tamil version of War 2 is struggling to generate interest, with reports indicating very low demand.

Adding to the competitive box office scenario, Rajinikanth’s highly awaited film Coolie is also releasing on August 14, setting the stage for a major clash between two of India’s biggest stars — Rajinikanth and Jr. NTR.

The trailer for War 2 is expected to drop on August 23, and it will play a crucial role in building momentum for the film’s release. Promotions are being planned with Hrithik and NTR appearing separately initially, followed by joint appearances post-release.

With over ₹80 crore in theatrical rights sold across Telugu states, War 2 needs to collect upwards of ₹100 crore to turn a profit in that region alone. The stakes are high, and so are the expectations.
