WATCH ‘Freakier Friday’ Trailer: Jamie Lee Curtis & Lindsay Lohan Face Another Body Swap 22 Years Later

Freakier Friday amps up the nostalgia and the madness, as two generations swap bodies in a magical sequel filled with family drama, wedding jitters, and a return to the chaos fans loved.

The mother-daughter switcheroo that became a cultural classic in Freaky Friday is back—and it’s gotten even wilder. Disney has unveiled the full trailer for Freakier Friday, the much-anticipated sequel that reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as Anna and Tess Coleman. But this time, the body-swapping madness doesn’t stop with just two. A shocking four-way switch turns a blended family’s wedding week into utter mayhem.

Set years after the original 2003 film, Freakier Friday finds Anna (Lohan) now an adult preparing for her wedding to Eric (played by Manny Jacinto). She’s also navigating the tensions between her own daughter (played by Julia Butters) and her soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons), who clash at every turn. When Anna’s daughter viciously mocks Lily in a faux wedding vow, calling her “a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent,” the family dynamic teeters on the edge of implosion.

Enter a fortune teller (a hilariously mystical Vanessa Bayer) at Anna’s bachelorette party, who senses unresolved cosmic entanglements. “You may still have a lesson to learn,” she warns Tess and Anna, referencing their infamous body swap years ago. When lightning literally strikes twice, the result is a chaotic four-person body switch: Anna and her daughter trade bodies, while Tess and Lily do the same.

From then on, chaos reigns.

With Anna trapped in her daughter’s teenage body and Tess in the form of her bratty future granddaughter, the original duo must find a way to restore order. But as Lily (in Tess’s body) declares, “We can break our parents up for good,” the stakes become deeply personal—and hilariously dramatic. The trailer even teases a heartwarming subplot involving Chad Michael Murray’s Jake, Anna’s former flame, whose return could change everything.

The trailer closes with a bang as Murray rides up on a motorcycle for a slow-motion, “grand, sexy entrance,” bringing nostalgia full circle for fans of the original.

Directed by Nisha Ganatra (Late Night), Freakier Friday is based on Mary Rodgers’ beloved novel and produced by Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Jamie Lee Curtis herself, with Lindsay Lohan serving as executive producer. The film also features Rosalind Chao, Elaine Hendrix (Lohan’s Parent Trap co-star), and Mark Harmon.

Set to the infectious beat of Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!”, the trailer promises the perfect blend of mayhem, heart, and humor.

Fans old and new can catch Freakier Friday when it hits theaters on August 8, 2025—just in time for a feel-good summer comedy with a magical twist.
