‘I Said I Love You First’ celebrates their real-life love story through 15 raw, emotional tracks

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have officially turned their relationship into a record. The duo released their debut collaborative album, I Said I Love You First, a 15-track sonic diary that traces the evolution of their romance — from quiet vulnerability to unfiltered passion.

Released via SMG Music, Friends Keep Secrets, and Interscope Records, the album marks a milestone both professionally and personally. The couple, who got engaged late last year, describe the album as an “organic creation born out of creative safety and emotional trust.”

The album’s latest music video, Younger and Hotter Than Me, adds cinematic weight to the narrative. In it, Gomez wanders through an empty studio lot, returning again and again to an abandoned set. The visuals echo her journey through fame, isolation, and personal rediscovery.

“When you’re young and a star, you’re everyone’s favorite thing — until you’re not,” Blanco reflects in a behind-the-scenes clip. “You’re stuck in this limbo, trying to figure out if you’ll fade into obscurity or find your next chapter.”

Gomez adds a layer of candid emotion: “That song… it’s how I’ve always felt. I’m awkward at parties. I talk to the loner in the corner because I relate. I’ve never truly fit in — not in that world.”

The album features previously released singles Scared of Loving You (co-written with Finneas), Call Me When You Break Up featuring Gracie Abrams, and Sunset Blvd. Songwriting powerhouses like Charli XCX also lend their pens, with Bluest Flame revisiting the trio’s earlier chemistry from Same Old Love.
