Did Bipasha Basu Quit Acting After Marriage? Here you know
May 29, 2025: Actress Bipasha Basu, one of Bollywood’s leading stars in the 2000s, recently opened up about her decision to take a sabbatical from films after her marriage to Karan Singh Grover in 2016. In a candid chat with Bombay Times, Bipasha shared insights into her personal journey — from young stardom to embracing motherhood.
Bipasha revealed that stepping away from the limelight was a conscious choice. “I started working at the age of 15. When I got married, I definitely consciously stepped back. I wanted to enjoy the perks of all that I had worked hard for,” she said.

The actress said the initial years post-marriage went by swiftly, immersed in love and domestic life. But the decision to become a mother required strength and introspection: “It was a little difficult for me. I had to make some strong decisions… Now I don’t want to miss out on any time with my baby.”
Since the birth of her daughter, Devi Basu Singh Grover, in 2022, Bipasha has focused completely on motherhood. “I had a baby and now I don’t want to miss out on any time with my baby,” she emphasized, adding that she’s grateful she has the luxury to take a break — something she earned through years of hard work.
Bipasha also touched upon her daughter’s growing curiosity: “She is always curious — ‘Why are people taking Mama’s pictures at airports?’”
While her focus remains on her daughter, Bipasha is not shutting the door on acting. “Acting is something that I love… I need my child to see who I am, apart from being a mum,” she shared. “I would love to get back to work, but there’s no rush.”
Bipasha and Karan Singh Grover met while filming the horror movie Alone in 2015 and tied the knot on April 30, 2016. Their chemistry later extended to the web series Dangerous in 2020. Both are active on social media and frequently share glimpses of their family life.
Debuting in 2001 with Ajnabee, Bipasha went on to star in several hits including Jism, No Entry, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Phir Hera Pheri. Known for her glamorous roles and confident screen presence, she became a defining face of early 2000s Bollywood cinema.
