June 22, 2025: David Corenswet, the actor stepping into the iconic role of Superman in James Gunn’s highly anticipated film, has revealed some unexpected challenges of donning the superhero’s suit.

In a candid interview with People magazine, Corenswet shared that despite the suit having multiple zippers, none are designed for easy bathroom access — a detail that made long shoot days more difficult.
“There are lots of zippers, but there’s no single zipper that allows me to go to the bathroom, which you would think would be quite straightforward,” he explained.

While the team explored making adjustments for better access, they ultimately chose not to due to cost concerns. Thankfully, Corenswet had his trusty dresser, Scotty, by his side.
“He would make excuses for me if I needed, and we got very good together at getting in and out of the suit quickly,” the actor added, praising Scotty’s vital role throughout filming.

Corenswet also spoke about the physical transformation he underwent to become the Man of Steel, gaining around 40 pounds of muscle. The bulked-up frame made squeezing into the custom-fitted suit another challenge, and he admitted feeling claustrophobic the first time he wore it.
“You feel like there’s pressure in all these different places at once,” he said.

Interestingly, his first suit fitting wasn’t the grand superhero moment one might expect — it was “underwhelming,” with the costume still in pieces.

The actor also highlighted the importance of the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane in the film. He and co-star Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois, spent time together building chemistry and discussing their characters.
“James felt the relationship between Clark and Lois was integral to the heart of the story,” Corenswet shared.

The new Superman film is set to hit theatres on July 11, and anticipation continues to build as fans await Corenswet’s debut as the legendary superhero.
