Why Are Criminal Justice 4 Fans So Angry? The Episode Release Strategy Explained

May 29, 2025: The much-anticipated fourth season of the hit legal drama Criminal Justice, starring Pankaj Tripathi as the ever-popular advocate Madhav Mishra, premiered on JioHotstar on May 22. While the content has been appreciated, fans were left frustrated with the release strategy — only three episodes were dropped initially, with subsequent episodes scheduled to release every Thursday.

The backlash was swift, with users taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to vent their disappointment. Many fans, identifying as binge-watchers, criticized the platform’s decision to stagger the episodes, calling it outdated and disruptive.

One user posted, “@JioHotstar I will watch this season when all episodes are released. I am a binge watcher and will not wait for every Thursday.” Another added, “Why do you want a show like Criminal Justice to flop? You are harming yourself by releasing just a few episodes.”

It’s worth noting that this weekly drop format has been a consistent strategy for the Criminal Justice franchise, which first launched in 2019 and has since become a fan-favorite with its gripping courtroom drama and compelling characters.

Season 4 brings back Pankaj Tripathi alongside a strong supporting cast including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Mita Vashisht, Asha Negi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Khushboo Atre, and Barkha Singh. The show is directed by Rohan Sippy, who has helmed all previous seasons as well.

Despite the frustration over the episode rollout, fans remain invested in Madhav Mishra’s legal battles and are expected to follow the show through to its finale.
