Why Are Fans Upset With Dhurandhar on Netflix?
Viewers complain of censored dialogues and trimmed scenes in Ranveer Singh film’s OTT release
January 30, 2026: Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna-starrer Dhurandhar began streaming on Netflix at midnight after the platform teased fans on social media, claiming their “sabr and nazar paid off.” The film was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, prompting excited viewers to log in immediately. However, the initial excitement soon gave way to disappointment as several users noticed muted dialogues and trimmed scenes in the OTT version, despite the film carrying an ‘A’ certificate.
Fans took to social media to express their frustration, accusing Netflix India of censoring an adult-rated film. One user wrote that nearly 10 minutes of footage appeared to be missing and several abusive words were muted, questioning the purpose of releasing an A-rated film with cuts. Others echoed similar concerns, saying the censored version ruined the film’s raw tone and that OTT platforms were expected to provide an uncut viewing experience.
According to reports, Dhurandhar had a theatrical runtime of about 3 hours and 34 minutes, while the Netflix version runs approximately 3 hours and 25 minutes. Apart from censorship, viewers also raised complaints about technical quality, including the absence of 4K, HDR and Dolby Atmos. Released theatrically on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar went on to earn Rs 1000 crore worldwide. Following its success, the makers have announced Dhurandhar 2, scheduled for release on March 19 (Eid), where it is expected to clash with Yash’s Toxic.
