May 27, 2025: At the trailer launch of ‘Housefull 5’, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar opened up once again about his deep admiration for Charlie Chaplin, calling the legendary comic icon his inspiration — and even revealed he carries Chaplin’s photograph in his wallet.
🎥 On Slapstick Comedy
Responding to a question about the film reviving slapstick comedy, Akshay said:
“Slapstick comedy yeh koi asaan comedy nahi hai (this is not easy comedy). Nana Sahab, Riteish, Abhishek have all done a lot of comedy — they’ll vouch for it. This film is a blend of slapstick and action comedy. It’s physical comedy, and I’m a huge fan of Charlie Chaplin.”
The audience cheered when Akshay offered to show the photo of Chaplin from his wallet. Holding up the image, he honored Chaplin’s legacy and his influence on generations of artists, himself included.

Charlie Chaplin, one of cinema’s most revered figures, is best known for his iconic character “The Tramp” and his work during the silent film era. His career spanned 65 years, and he was a pioneer in visual comedy and emotionally rich storytelling.
