Why Mardaani 3 Hits Hard Despite Its Flaws

Rani Mukerji’s commanding performance lifts the gritty crime thriller

January 30, 2026: Mardaani 3 once again underlines the power of a strong lead performance, with Rani Mukerji firmly anchoring the film. She dominates every frame as police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, reminding audiences why she remains one of Hindi cinema’s most formidable actors. While the trailer drew comparisons with Delhi Crime, the film moves beyond familiar territory, unfolding a darker and more emotionally charged story that explores the chilling realities behind the disappearance of young girls.

The narrative follows Shivani as she investigates a series of missing girls in the city. What initially appears to be a routine sex-trafficking case gradually reveals a far more disturbing truth. As the mystery deepens, the film raises unsettling questions about motive, violence, and systemic cruelty. Although the screenplay briefly loses momentum in the middle, it regains strength with sharp twists and emotionally heavy moments, culminating in a final reveal that leaves a lasting impact.

Rani Mukerji delivers a compelling and fearless performance, whether it’s through her confident Marathi dialogues, intense confrontations, or action sequences. She brings both authority and vulnerability to Shivani Roy. Mallika Prasad Amma effectively adds menace as the antagonist, while Janki Bodiwala offers solid support. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and written by Aayush Gupta, Deepak Kingrani and Baljeet Singh Marwah, the film may have minor narrative flaws, but its emotional weight and powerful acting make Mardaani 3 a gripping watch.
