Why Netflix Canceled Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's £100 Million Deal?
July 23, 2025: Reports say that the highly publicized £100 million arrangement between Netflix and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been called off. Sources say that the streaming giant will not renew their contract. This news comes after recent projects, like Meghan’s sitcom “With Love, Meghan,” didn’t do well. Reports say it didn’t make it into Netflix’s top 300 shows.
Through their firm Archewell Productions, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex first worked with Netflix in 2020. They signed a multi-year production deal worth over $100 million. Their first project together was the documentary “Harry & Meghan” in 2022, which got a lot of attention and had a lot of views. After that, they put out further projects, such as “Polo” and “Live To Lead.” But it seems that the information that came after the first documentary had trouble keeping people’s interest.
A source told The Sun, “The deal is done; no more shows will be made.” Netflix thinks they’ve gotten everything they can out of the couple. The insider said that Netflix did a good job of getting a lot of people to watch the first documentary, but the programming that came after it was “weaker.”
The source says that all sides are okay with the decision not to renew the deal, which ends in September 2025. They say that “things have just run their course.” People say that Netflix execs know that Meghan’s first focus right now is her own brand, and they don’t want to “play second fiddle” to that.
Neither Netflix nor the couple will make a public announcement, but the door is still open for a “one-off project down the line” if things change a lot. But for Prince Harry, this end of the deal is considered a “huge loss of revenue.”
Reports say that other ventures, such Prince Harry’s “Heart of Invictus” and the “Polo” documentary, also didn’t get a lot of people interested. The fact that their new content hasn’t been very well received seems to be a big reason why Netflix made this choice.
There are rumors that Paramount+ wants to work with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the future, and the couple is said to be open to working with fresh people on the right project. The next few months will show if the Sussexes start a new media partnership after their time with Netflix ends.
