Actor-director Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has initially chosen to stay behind the camera, making his debut this year as a director and writer with the web series The Ba**ards of Bollywood. Following the show’s success, actor Rajat Bedi has shed light on Aryan’s future acting plans.
Rajat Bedi, who returned to the screen as the character Jaraj Saxena in Aryan Khan’s series, revealed his conversation with the star kid during an interview with Instant Bollywood.
The Pressure of Comparison
Bedi recounted his first meeting with Aryan, where he initially questioned Aryan’s decision to direct instead of act:
“Pehle din mein hi mujhe keh diya, ‘Sir, maine kuchh likha hai aur main kuchh cheez direct karne jaa raha hun.’ Maine bola, ‘Tu direct karne jaa raha hai?’ Maine bola, ‘Beta tujhe poori duniya wait kar rahi hai, tu camera ke aage kab aayega, aur yeh kya kar raha hai?’”
Aryan’s response indicated the immense pressure of comparison he faces due to his lineage:
“Nahi sir, Papa jahan pohonch chuke hain udhar pohonchne mein, comparison aur yeh saari cheezein. But ab nahi, main thode wakt ke baad sochunga agar actor banna hai [No sir, to reach where Papa has reached, the comparisons and all these things… But not now, I will think about it after some time if I want to become an actor].”
Directorial Debut
During the same conversation, Aryan showed his commitment to his debut, telling Bedi:
“Mujhe kaha ki, ‘Main kuchh banane jaa raha hun sir. Magar, agar aap karoge toh hi main yeh kirdaar rakhunga nahi toh main yeh kirdaar nikaal dunga. Aur main dil se chah raha hun ki aap karo.’ And I was really touched.”
While Aryan’s directorial skills are currently winning praise, his comment suggests that an acting debut is not ruled out, but will be considered at a later time, allowing him to establish himself behind the camera first. Fans are now eagerly anticipating the second season of his show and, eventually, his debut as an actor.
