"Will Be Announcing The Release Date Soon", Says Kangana Ranaut As 'Emergency' Gets Censor Certificate

October 17, 2024: Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated film Emergency has officially been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

On Thursday, Kangana shared the news with her fans on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "We are glad to announce we have received the censor certificate for our movie Emergency, we will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support."

The film, a biographical political thriller, explores the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the controversial 21-month emergency period she imposed from 1975 to 1977.

Kangana Ranaut, who not only stars in the film but also directs it, had previously expressed concerns over the release delays, highlighting the financial strain it placed on the film’s makers.

She noted that the film was made without industry support and involved significant investment, with delays leading to losses for everyone involved.

Emergency has faced some controversies, including backlash from certain Sikh groups. Despite these challenges, the film, produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, promises to offer a compelling portrayal of one of India's most politically turbulent periods. With the CBFC clearance, fans can expect an official release date to be announced soon.
