Will Glen Powell Survive the Game in The Running Man?
July 10, 2025: Fans are in for an adrenaline rush as Glen Powell gears up to star in The Running Man, the latest film adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic 1982 novel. The 36-year-old actor plays Ben Richards, a desperate father who joins a deadly game show where survival is the ultimate prize — and the odds are stacked against him.
“I’m getting to do some really cool stuff,” Powell told Entertainment Tonight, before joking, “That really worries my mom.” With nonstop action and high-stakes stunts, Powell admitted, “There’s a lot of running,” adding, “Man, I’m gonna get my ass kicked for two hours in this movie.”

The film, directed by Edgar Wright and co-written with Michael Bacall, reimagines the 1987 version that famously starred Arnold Schwarzenegger — who has already given Powell his blessing. “Patrick Schwarzenegger is a good friend of mine, and I asked him if I could talk to Arnold,” Glen Powell said. “Arnold gave us his full blessing, and we’re giving him a fun gift from the movie soon.”
The first trailer already teased a quick Schwarzenegger cameo. The new version also stars Josh Brolin as the ruthless show producer Dan Killian, alongside Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, and Katy O’Brian.
Set in a dystopian future where a deadly reality show dominates television, The Running Man follows Richards’ fight for survival and his transformation into a fan-favorite — and a rebel threat to the system. The film hits theaters on November 7.
