In the aftermath of the shocking knife attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt’s half-brother Rahul Bhatt has weighed in with strong comments on celebrity security standards. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Rahul criticized the apparent lapse in safety and stated that a person of Saif’s stature should have invested in better private security services.

The January 16 attack inside Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Bandra residence left the actor hospitalized after a confrontation with an armed intruder. While Saif has since recovered and resumed work, the incident raised industry-wide questions about how secure India’s biggest stars truly are.

“If I were in his place, I would have invested in top-tier security. With children involved and a large household staff, it’s not a luxury—it’s a necessity,” said Rahul Bhatt.

He acknowledged that while he wasn’t fully informed about the specifics of Saif’s case, the involvement of children in such a dangerous situation made stronger security infrastructure imperative.

“Aadmi ko khud ka kuch nahi hota hai… but when your profile is this large, it’s an investment you must make,” he stressed.

Citing examples of advanced private firms offering 24/7 patrolling and emergency response services, Rahul pointed out that stars must shift from reactive to preventive security measures.

“Security should be preventive. Not something you upgrade only after an incident. You’re a public figure, your home is known, the paparazzi are always around—it invites attention,” he added.

Though he clarified he hadn’t followed every detail of the case and wasn’t issuing a judgment, Rahul emphasized that Saif, being a father and public figure, likely understands the urgency now.

For context, Saif was injured during a break-in at his Bandra home and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He is now fully recovered and preparing for the release of his next film, “Jewel Thief”, co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Kunal Kapoor, and Nikita Dutta.
