WWE Star Chelsea Green Quits Social Media Amid Brutal Backlash Over Hulk Hogan Comments
July 29, 2025: Canadian pro wrestler Chelsea Green has said she is leaving social media because she has been getting a lot of “name-calling” and “death threats.” She made this choice after getting a lot of criticism for what she said about Hulk Hogan, a WWE legend who just died.
Chelsea Green quits social media after getting a lot of hate for her comments on Hulk Hogan, a WWE legend who died.
On Thursday’s CBS News 24/7 episode, Chelsea Green called Hulk Hogan a “absolute icon,” even if she admitted that his political views are “polarizing.” Hogan, who died last week after having a possible heart attack at his home in Florida, was a controversial character. This was mostly because he supported Donald Trump during last year’s presidential election and because audio of him making racist comments had been leaked before.
After her TV appearance, Green tried to explain her position on social media. Last week, she tweeted, “A big part of my job at @WWE is to talk to people and answer questions, often on live platforms.” Someone asked me to talk about Hulk Hogan on live TV yesterday. Let me be clear: I will never change my mind about racism.
But it seems that the backlash kept becoming worse. Green said on Saturday, July 26, that she was going to stop using social media. She said, “I’ve tried to keep my page funny and positive, but today a lot changed and it hit harder than I thought it would.” The insults, the threats of death, and the accounts with no faces.
WWE paid tribute to Hulk Hogan on “Friday Night SmackDown” with a film that included highlights from his long and legendary wrestling career. This was followed by a traditional 10-bell salute, which recognized his important yet controversial legacy in the sport.
