Yash’s Toxic Teaser Sparks Political Row
AAP’s women’s wing flags “obscene content,” Karnataka Women’s Commission seeks CBFC action
January 13, 2026: The teaser of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups, starring Kannada superstar Yash, has triggered controversy just days after its release, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) objecting to what it called “obscene and explicit” visuals. Leaders from AAP’s women’s wing in Karnataka approached the Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSWC) on Monday, submitting a formal complaint and demanding immediate action. The party alleged that the teaser, which was released without any age-related warning, undermines social values and portrays women in a derogatory manner.
According to the complaint, AAP leaders took strong objection to scenes in the teaser that show Yash kissing a woman inside a car, followed by violent action sequences. AAP state secretary Usha Mohan claimed such visuals harm the social well-being of women and children, insult Kannada culture, and could negatively impact minors. Urging strict intervention, the party asked the women’s commission to direct authorities to ban the teaser and ensure its removal from social media platforms.
Acting on the petition, the Karnataka State Commission for Women wrote to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), seeking “appropriate action” after examining the matter as per rules. Meanwhile, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups, directed by Geethu Mohandas and co-written by her and Yash, was unveiled on January 8 to mark the actor’s birthday. Featuring a star-studded cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi, the film is slated for a March 19 theatrical release and is set to clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 at the box office.
