This character, originally Sophie Beckett in Julia Quinn’s novels, has undergone a cultural adaptation to reflect Ha’s Korean heritage. Showrunner Jess Brownell worked closely with Ha to choose a Korean surname beginning with “B,” ultimately selecting “Baek.”

Ha expressed how meaningful it was to have her character’s identity align with her own, making her feel more connected to the role.
