You Won’t Believe Who Was Behind the Mask at the Housefull 5 Screening! Watch

June 8, 2025: Akshay Kumar’s latest comedy, Housefull 5, is making waves not just for its laughs but also for a quirky prank the actor recently pulled off. To get a real feel of audience reactions, Akshay donned the now-viral killer’s mask from the film and mingled with moviegoers outside a screening in Bandra — all while keeping his identity under wraps.

Sharing the fun moment on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “Bas yun hi I decided to wear the killer mask and interview people coming out of the Housefull 5 show at Bandra today. Pakda jaane wala thaa end mein but bhaag gaya us se pehle. Mast experience.” Fans were amazed to see how no one recognized the superstar, even as he engaged with them about their take on the film.

Housefull 5 hit theatres on June 6 with a star-studded cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Soundarya Sharma. The comedy entertainer has been receiving a positive response at the box office, collecting an impressive Rs 24 crore net domestically on its opening day. The worldwide tally stood at Rs 40 crore on Day 1, and Day 2 showed an upward trend with Rs 30 crore net, bringing the total to approximately Rs 54 crore.

The film maintained a nationwide occupancy of 33.18%, with Chennai showing a standout 52% occupancy — remarkable for a Hindi comedy. With Sunday still to come before the usual weekday drop, audiences and analysts are keenly watching how high Housefull 5 can climb this weekend.

One unique aspect of Housefull 5 that’s creating buzz is its release with two alternate endings — Housefull 5 A and Housefull 5 B. Director Tarun Mansukhani revealed the idea originated with producer Sajid Nadiadwala decades ago, making this a fresh and exciting experience for fans and filmmakers alike. This innovation has sparked curiosity and encouraged repeat viewings.

However, not all critics have been kind. News18 Showsha gave the film 2.5 stars, critiquing the music and excessive dance numbers for stretching the already long screenplay. “If this is the standard of comedy we get from the Housefull franchise, then Nadiadwala has to step up and raise the bar in the next instalment,” the review noted.

Despite mixed reviews, the box office numbers and audience excitement — amplified by Akshay Kumar’s hilarious mask prank — signal a promising run for Housefull 5.
