Brett Cooper’s Criticism: “What Did You Think This Would Do?”

The YouTube clip featured Priyanka’s 2020 janta curfew moment, where she clapped from her Los Angeles home to show support for healthcare workers and first responders. Cooper mocked the gesture, saying:
“This goes on for like 30 seconds! Theatre kids, like okay, I can say that because I am a theatre kid. What did you think this would do? People don’t need your applause from your Malibu mansion!”

Her commentary wasn’t limited to Priyanka—she also took aim at Gal Gadot, Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, and Madonna, accusing celebrities of failing to connect with real struggles.

Reddit Comes to Priyanka’s Defense

Despite the criticism, several Reddit users stood up for Priyanka, pointing out her efforts in sharing pandemic resources and providing relief. One user wrote:
“Priyanka was among the few Indian celebrities actively spreading information and helping people during COVID. The clapping wasn’t just an Indian thing—it happened in many countries.”
