The actor said he was so angry he “thought of suing” after the film’s re-release with a new climax he called “humiliating.” His criticism follows similar objections from lead star Dhanush and director Aanand L Rai, who claim the change was made without their consent.

August 13, 2025: A new, AI-generated “happy” ending for the re-released movie Raanjhanaa has caused a lot of trouble. The main actors and the original director have all spoken out about how angry and disappointed they are.

The movie from 2013, which originally concluded with a sad ending, was shown again in theaters with a new version in which the main character lives.

Zeeshan Ayyub, who plays a main character in the movie, was quite upset and said he was so angry he thought about suing the production company. He said, “You took away a very important feeling from the audience.” Zeeshan thought the AI-changed sequence was “humiliating” and took away the film’s very soul.

Dhanush, the main star, agreed with him and stated the revised ending was “deeply concerning” and that it was done even though he “clearly objected.” Dhanush remarked in a statement, “This is not the movie I promised to make 12 years ago…” It’s really worrying that AI can be used to change movies or other content for both artists and art.

Director Aanand L Rai has also openly said that he doesn’t like the new ending and that it was produced without his permission.

Eros International Media Limited, the company that made the movie, said in a statement that the new version is “a lawful and creative reinterpretation, not a replacement.” They made it clear that the original Raanjhanaa is still the same and that the new version is part of a long history of alternate edits and anniversary re-releases.

Dhanush’s character Kundan dies after being shot in the original climax. The AI-changed conclusion, on the other hand, depicts Kundan waking up in a hospital bed, which makes his pals very happy. Eros is also accusing Rai of utilizing the film’s intellectual property in his next movie, which has added to the controversy.
