Zendaya Opens Up About Health Scare on ‘Dune: Part Two’ Set After Suffering Heatstroke
Los Angeles [US], January 5: Actress Zendaya recently opened up about a frightening health scare she experienced while filming ‘Dune: Part Two’ in the harsh desert conditions of Jordan. In a conversation with W Magazine, the actress revealed how she suffered heatstroke due to dehydration while shooting in remote locations with limited access to facilities.
Zendaya, who portrays Chani in the Dune franchise, recounted the challenges of filming in heavy costumes under the blazing desert sun.
“It was very hot, and I remember thinking, ‘Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,’ because we had to hike to the locations. If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes,” she explained.
To avoid frequent trips to the bathroom, Zendaya made the mistake of not drinking enough water, which ultimately led to her health issue.
“I had such a fear of peeing myself or shitting myself, honestly, in the suit on set. One day, I didn’t drink enough, and I had a heatstroke. I felt so barfy. I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, ‘I feel terrible.’ She was like, ‘Did you drink water today?’ I said no. I thought I was being smart, but you can’t do that. So, lesson learned,” Zendaya shared.
Despite the physically challenging conditions, Zendaya remains passionate about the Dune franchise. Having played a prominent role in both films, she has already expressed interest in returning for a third installment, which would be based on Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’ novel.
Meanwhile, the Dune universe continues to expand, with the prequel series ‘Dune: Prophecy’ having recently premiered.
