Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have both announced that they will play doubles together for the laver cup in London later this year.
Federer has been out since July due to an ailing knee, and Nadal, who just won his men’s-record 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, stated they will represent Team Europe in London from Sept. 23 to 25.
Federer, whose management business launched the competition, said, “I’m definitely looking forward to getting back into competition later this year, and Laver Cup is very much part of my strategy.”
Last year, Federer received a letter from Nadal asking they play doubles again in the Laver Cup. During the first Laver Cup in 2017, they partnered together to win a doubles match.
“If we can maybe share the court one more time as a doubles combination, then this will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The fifth Laver Cup will take place this year. Federer and Nadal did not participate in 2021.
