FIH Bans Russia from competing in the Junior Women’s World Cup due to its invasion of Ukraine.

The International Hockey Federation excluded Russia from competing in the next FIH Women’s Junior World Cup on Tuesday, as the international athletic community continued to boycott the country over its invasion of Ukraine, which has drawn widespread condemnation. The FIH Junior Women’s World Cup will be held in Potchefstroom, South Africa from April 1 to 12.

The FIH made its decision earlier this week to express its complete solidarity with the members of Ukraine’s hockey community during this tragic period.
The invasion of Ukraine by Russia last week drew widespread condemnation, and the country has been barred from participating in major athletic events.

Russian teams have lately been barred from all international football, including World Cup qualifying matches in 2022.

The IOC Executive Board had issued an “urgent recommendation not to organise any sporting event in Russia or Belarus,”.
