After India’s loss to New Zealand in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup opener, Jemimah Rodrigues highlighted the need for her team to focus on upcoming fixtures and learn from the defeat.
The team fell short by 58 runs, leaving them in a challenging position in the group stage, especially with strong contenders like Australia also in the mix.
Rodrigues acknowledged that New Zealand came out aggressively, which was expected, and emphasized the importance of capitalizing on opportunities that were missed during the match. Reflecting on her own performance, she expressed disappointment in not being able to build partnerships after early wickets fell.
Looking ahead, Rodrigues stated, “This is a World Cup and we need to keep moving on and picking ourselves up” to show the team’s character.
India’s next match against Pakistan is critical for stabilizing their campaign, especially following Pakistan’s impressive performance against Sri Lanka in their opener.
