Former France And Real Madrid Defender Raphael Varane Announces Retirement From Football

Raphaël Varane has officially announced his retirement from professional football on September 25, following an injury that sidelined him during a Coppa Italia match while playing for Como in Serie A.

Taking to social media, Varane shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his remarkable career, expressing immense pride and fulfillment.

In his emotional statement, Varane acknowledged the challenges he faced throughout his journey, stating, “They say all good things must come to an end.” He celebrated the incredible emotions and memories he created from his time at various clubs, including Lens, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, as well as with the French national team. Varane emphasized the importance of retiring on a strong note, demonstrating a commitment to his high standards: “It takes a big dose of courage to listen to your heart and your instinct.”

Varane’s illustrious career includes numerous accolades: 18 major trophies with Real Madrid, including three La Liga titles and four Champions League victories. After joining Manchester United in 2021, he played a key role in their Carabao Cup and FA Cup victories. Internationally, Varane was a vital part of the French team that won the World Cup in 2018 and the UEFA Nations League in 2021, earning 93 caps.

Despite his achievements, Varane reflected on the values of sincerity and making a positive impact throughout his career. As he transitions to life off the pitch, he will remain with Como in a new capacity.
