Jamie Lee Curtis took to Instagram to voice her dismay, emphasizing the potential return to more restrictive times under Trump’s leadership. She expressed concern that many people, especially minorities, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and young people, would face increased fear and uncertainty regarding their rights. Curtis made it clear that while the situation was dire, she believed that it was time to “wake up and fight”. She called for collective action, including protests, to stand up for human rights, women’s healthcare, and against what she described as “tyranny.”

Rapper Cardi B also shared her frustration with the election results, posting a video on her Instagram Story with the caption “I hate y’all bad.”
Cardi B, who had previously supported Kamala Harris during the election, has been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights. She condemned Trump’s alleged sexism, aligning herself with Harris’s message that women often have to work harder and endure more scrutiny than their male counterparts. She described herself as someone who has also been underestimated, much like Harris, and vowed to always stand up to bullies.
Christina Applegate, known for her role in Married…With Children, took to social media to express her alarm over the threat to reproductive rights, particularly following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. Applegate shared her distress over the emotional toll that the re-election of Trump was having on her child, who feared for her rights as a woman.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she asked, “Why? Give me your reasons why????” She then urged followers who supported Trump’s policies against women’s rights to unfollow her, stating, “What you did is unreal.” In a follow-up post, she declared her intention to shut down her fan account, a space she had maintained for years, because she could no longer engage with supporters of what she viewed as oppressive policies.
Billie Eilish also joined in expressing her discontent, posting on her Instagram Story with the message: “it’s a war on women.”
Eilish has been vocal about her support for women’s rights and social justice issues, and her brief yet powerful statement reflected her belief that Trump’s re-election signaled a significant setback for gender equality.
Donald Trump’s victory in the election means he has crossed the 270 electoral college votes threshold needed to win. This marks only the second instance in U.S. history of a president serving two non-consecutive terms—Grover Cleveland was the first, serving two non-consecutive terms in 1884 and 1892. Trump had previously served as president from 2016 to 2020, before losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden.
The celebrities’ outcry reflects a deep sense of concern over the social, legal, and political consequences of a second Trump presidency, particularly for marginalized communities, women’s rights, and the future of American democracy.
