“Frozen 3 Gets a Release Date: Elsa and Anna Return to Theaters in 2027”

Fans of the beloved Frozen series have reason to celebrate as the makers have officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated Frozen 3.

According to a report by Variety, the third installment of the blockbuster animated film series is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2027. This release date continues the tradition of the Frozen films being launched around Thanksgiving, with both previous movies becoming billion-dollar box office successes.

Filmmaker Jennifer Lee recently unveiled the initial concept art for Frozen 3, featuring the iconic characters Anna and Elsa. The artwork showcases the sisters riding horses toward a sunlit horizon, with the lovable snowman Olaf perched on Anna’s horse, adding to the excitement of what lies ahead in this new adventure.

In addition to Frozen 3, Disney announced another project, Hoppers, scheduled for release on March 6, 2026. The film, a body-swap comedy about a young girl using technology to understand animals’ thoughts, will feature the voice talents of Jon Hamm and Bobby Moynihan.

The Frozen franchise, which began in 2013 with the release of the original film, has become a cultural phenomenon. The first movie, directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, grossed approximately $1.3 billion worldwide and garnered numerous awards, including two Oscars.

The sequel, Frozen 2, released in 2019, surpassed its predecessor in commercial success. The adventures of royal sisters Anna and Elsa, voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, have left an indelible mark on pop culture, giving rise to iconic songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has teased even more excitement for fans, revealing in 2023 that not only is Frozen 3 in the works, but a fourth installment might also be on the horizon. He mentioned that veteran songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will return to pen new tracks for the upcoming films.

Frozen 3 is in the works, and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works too,” Iger said last year. “But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original Frozen and Frozen 2, is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories,” as reported by Variety.

With Frozen 3 officially on the calendar, fans can start counting down the days to the return of their favorite Arendelle characters.
