Apple Fitness Plus Integrates with Strava for Enhanced Workout Experience

New integration offers detailed workout summaries, exclusive athlete features, and a three-month free trial for Strava subscribers.

Washington [US], January 6: Apple Fitness Plus and Strava have announced a significant integration aimed at delivering a more enriched fitness experience for users. This collaboration, which went live on January 3, allows Fitness Plus workouts to seamlessly sync with Strava, providing detailed summaries, exclusive athlete appearances, and a three-month free trial for Strava subscribers in select regions.

Seamless Integration for a Unified Fitness Experience

The integration ensures that Apple Fitness Plus workouts are displayed directly on Strava, offering enhanced insights like workout episode numbers, music genres, trainer names, heart rate data, and calories burned. Users will also see thumbnails of their workouts within the Strava app, making it easier to track and share their fitness activities.

Previously, Apple Watch users syncing workouts with Strava only received basic data, such as calories burned and heart rate, without detailed insights into specific workout sessions.

“This collaboration helps to bring Fitness Plus more in line with other Strava integrations and offer a deeper, more cohesive experience for athletes who want to track every aspect of their fitness journey,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s Vice President of Fitness Technologies.

Three-Month Free Trial for Strava Subscribers

As part of this partnership, new and existing Strava subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia will receive a three-month free trial of Apple Fitness Plus. Notably, this offer extends even to those who do not own an Apple Watch, although an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV is required to access the service.

Exclusive Athlete Appearances in Fitness Plus Workouts

The integration also introduces exclusive guest appearances by Strava athletes in Fitness Plus workouts. On January 13, Hellah Sidibe, famous for his seven-year daily running streak, will feature in a strength workout. Additionally, Kayla Jeter, a well-known Strava member, will appear in a treadmill workout.

A Strategic Move for Both Platforms

Traditionally, Apple offered Fitness Plus trials only with Apple product purchases. This collaboration marks a strategic shift for Apple, allowing broader access to its fitness ecosystem.

“Over the past 10 years, we’ve hugely admired what Strava has done to impact the fitness space, especially around community,” Blahnik added.

Zipporah Allen, Strava’s Chief Business Officer, emphasized the value of the partnership, saying, “This integration will appeal to athletes looking to diversify their fitness regimens, whether it’s strength training, yoga, or treadmill workouts.”

Future Ambitions for the Integration

Both Apple and Strava have hinted that this is just the beginning of their collaboration. Plans for future updates include potential features like direct access to Fitness Plus classes taken by Strava friends, enhancing the social and interactive aspects of fitness tracking.

This partnership represents a landmark step in the fitness technology sector, blending Apple’s premium workout content with Strava’s thriving fitness community, ensuring a holistic fitness experience for users worldwide.
