Actor Alia Bhatt has expressed profound sorrow and condemnation over the recent terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, which tragically claimed the lives of at least nine people. On her Instagram stories, Alia shared her heartfelt reaction, stating, “This is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Violence against the innocent shakes the very core of our humanity.”
Earlier in the day, Priyanka Chopra also voiced her distress and questioned the pervasive hatred seen globally. In her Instagram stories, she wrote, “Devastated. This heinous attack on innocent pilgrims is horrific. Why civilians and children?! It’s so hard to comprehend the hatred we’re witnessing around the world.”
The sentiments of grief and condemnation were echoed by several other Bollywood celebrities, including Varun Dhawan, Mohit Raina, Parineeti Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Riteish Deshmukh, and Anupam Kher. Each took to social media to express their sorrow and solidarity with the victims and their families.
The horrific incident occurred on Sunday evening when a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra was targeted by terrorists in the Pouni area of Reasi district, which borders Rajouri district. The attack caused the bus to plunge into a gorge, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and injuries to over 30 other passengers.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir police, the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba is believed to be behind this despicable act. In response, the JK police have formed 11 specialized teams to investigate the attack thoroughly.
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also assessed the situation in Reasi. The NIA’s forensic team is diligently working on collecting evidence to piece together the events leading up to the attack and identify those responsible.
This tragic event has not only shaken the local community but has also drawn widespread condemnation and calls for justice from across the nation.
