Dubai, UAE: The United Arab Emirates is experiencing severe weather disruptions due to torrential rains, hail, and thunderstorms, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay indoors.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted that the unstable conditions, including potential hailstorms, will persist across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah for the next 48 hours.

Educational institutions have transitioned to online classes, and government employees are working from home. The NCM has particularly warned of heavy rainfall which could lead to flooding, especially in low-lying areas, and has advised residents to secure their vehicles in elevated locations.

Significant disruptions were reported, with road closures due to flooding and cave-ins, and public transport services like the Dubai Tram experiencing interruptions. Additionally, the UAE Football Association has postponed all local matches scheduled for Tuesday.

Flight operations at Dubai International Airport have also been impacted, with several cancellations and delays. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, confirmed that private schools and government offices in Dubai would operate remotely due to the weather.

This weather event is part of a broader pattern affecting the Gulf region, which has already seen devastating consequences in Oman, including flash floods that claimed lives. Authorities across the UAE are urging caution, particularly for drivers and those living near flood-prone areas, as the situation develops.
