October 11, 2024: Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Superman, is set to star in the live-action adaptation of Voltron. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who also wrote the script alongside Ellen Shanman, the project promises to bring the classic 1980s anime series to life on the big screen.
The Voltron franchise follows a team of space explorers who pilot robotic lions that combine to form the giant super-robot known as Voltron.
Cavill joins newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who has worked as Tom Holland’s understudy in a West End production of Romeo & Juliet. Plot details of the movie are still under wraps, but fans of the series are eager for more information as the film starts to take shape. The production team includes Todd Lieberman, Bob Koplar, and David Hoberman alongside Thurber.
This marks another exciting project for Cavill, who is also involved in major upcoming films such as Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot and Guy Ritchie’s action-adventure In the Grey.
