Ekta Kapoor Fires Back at Ram Kapoor Over ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ Kiss Scene Remarks: “Unprofessional Actors Should Shut Up”

Ekta Kapoor slams actors spreading ‘false and skewed stories’ about her shows after Ram Kapoor’s viral interview on his controversial scene with Sakshi Tanwar.

January 8, 2025: Television producer Ekta Kapoor recently took to her Instagram Stories to share a cryptic yet pointed post aimed at “unprofessional actors” who, according to her, are spreading “false information and skewed stories” about her shows.

Ekta Kapoor wrote:
“Unprofessional actors giving interviews about my shows should shut up! False information and skewed stories. Can only last till I talk… but there is dignity in silence.”

Her post comes shortly after Ram Kapoor’s recent interview went viral, where he opened up about his controversial on-screen kiss with Sakshi Tanwar in the hit TV show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Ram Kapoor addressed the backlash surrounding the scene:
“Mera kaam as an actor is to do my job. I don’t owe an explanation to anybody… Mera kaam hai script ko follow karna… Main kaise bol sakta hoon ki ye main nahi kar sakta, tab main actor nahi hoon… so I did nothing wrong.”

Ram Kapoor further claimed that the scene was approved by Ekta Kapoor, despite his initial reservations:
“Ekta’s the one who wrote the scene, wanted us to do the scene… I told Ekta, ‘Are you sure? Ye television mein pehle kabhi hua nahi hai. It was the first kiss of television, which is a big thing. And three generations watch the show together… But Ekta was very confident ki wo karna hai.”

He also mentioned discussing the scene with his wife and co-star Sakshi Tanwar before filming.

Bade Achhe Lagte Hain remains one of the most iconic shows on Indian television, celebrated for the chemistry between Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. The show was later revived with Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar in the lead roles for its second season.

The ongoing public back-and-forth between Ekta Kapoor and Ram Kapoor has reignited debates about professionalism and accountability in the Indian television industry.
