"Shah Rukh Khan Threw My Photo, I Started Crying": Rajiv Thakur Recalls This Episode on Kapil Sharma Show
February 9, 2025: Comedian Rajiv Thakur recently shared an unforgettable moment from The Kapil Sharma Show, where Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan pulled an elaborate prank on him and co-star Chandan Prabhakar. The incident took place nearly a decade ago when SRK was promoting his film Happy New Year. The actor’s convincing portrayal of anger left Rajiv teary-eyed, only for the prank to end on an unexpectedly heartwarming note.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajiv recalled, “People say never meet your idol because they might disappoint you. But with Shah Rukh Khan, the opposite happened. He made me love him even more.” Rajiv, an ardent SRK fan, had long admired the actor’s signature features, particularly his expressive eyebrows. However, his first meeting with the star turned out to be both nerve-wracking and memorable.
During the show, Kapil Sharma introduced Rajiv as a huge Shah Rukh fan and encouraged him to mimic the superstar. Despite receiving a standing ovation for his performance, SRK and Kapil found a way to execute the prank. Shah Rukh pretended to be offended by the mimicry, escalating the tension. “When he threw a photo of me and him on the floor, I was shocked,” Rajiv shared. “I couldn’t believe my idol was upset with me. I was on the verge of tears.”

However, the prank concluded with SRK breaking into laughter and hugging Rajiv and Chandan. “His acting was so convincing that I felt genuinely guilty. But when he revealed it was all in good fun, I was overwhelmed,” Rajiv added.
After the prank, Shah Rukh went a step further to win Rajiv’s heart. “Later, his team came to my vanity van and handed me the same photo he had thrown on the floor—framed and with a handwritten note from him. That gesture made me respect him even more,” Rajiv recalled.
Years later, Rajiv visited SRK at his iconic Mannat residence with Kapil Sharma. “Even at a party, he walked us to our car and stood there until we left. He is truly special,” Rajiv said.
As part of the prank, SRK pretended to chastise Rajiv and Chandan for mocking him and other Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Dev Anand. He delivered lines such as, “What kind of fan are you if you mock us on national TV?” before dramatically throwing a photo on the floor. Just when the tension peaked, SRK broke character and recited his famous line, “Do chutki sindoor ki keemat tum kya jaano, Ramesh?”
