According to a source close to the Peltz family, tensions may have originated from a moment at Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish 2022 Palm Beach wedding, when singer Marc Anthony — a close friend of the Beckhams — dedicated a song mid-reception to “the most beautiful woman in the room,” calling Victoria to the stage instead of the bride.

“Nicola felt that Victoria hijacked a special moment,” the insider told PEOPLE. “She was shocked and couldn’t understand why it happened.”

Another source added that the room went silent as guests processed the unexpected moment.

“It was such a jaw-dropping moment… you could hear a pin drop.”

However, a wedding guest offered a conflicting version of the evening. They clarified that Nicola and Brooklyn had their formal first dances — including one to Only Fools Rush In and another to Stand By Me — earlier in the night. Marc Anthony’s performance came later during a more casual part of the reception when many family members, including Brooklyn and Victoria, danced together.

“Everyone was having a great time,” the guest said, countering the suggestion of wedding day drama.
