Over 30 Hours Later, No Trace of Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker: 20 Police Teams on the Hunt
January 17, 2025, Mumbai: Over 30 hours after the shocking attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his upscale Bandra residence, Mumbai police are yet to apprehend the suspect. The incident, which occurred during the early hours of Thursday, left the 54-year-old actor with six stab wounds, including one to his neck. Saif is currently recovering at Lilavati Hospital following emergency surgery, where doctors have declared him out of danger.
To track down the intruder, police have formed 20 specialized teams, utilizing a network of informers and technical data. According to an official, they are analyzing mobile phone activity in the area at the time of the attack, reviewing CCTV footage, and conducting searches across multiple locations in Mumbai.

The attacker, armed with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade, was caught on CCTV at 2:33 a.m., fleeing the scene. The footage clearly shows the young man wearing a brown collared T-shirt and a red scarf as he descended the building’s stairs from the sixth floor. Saif’s apartment is located on the 12th floor of the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building.
The forensic team and dog squad have collected evidence from Saif’s home and the building premises, while searches continue in nearby areas.
The attack took place at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. The intruder allegedly gained entry to Saif’s apartment without forcing his way in, possibly sneaking in earlier in the night with the intent to rob.
The first encounter occurred with Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philip, who reported that the attacker demanded ₹1 crore. She described the man as being between 35 and 40 years old. When she screamed, Saif and Kareena rushed out of their room. A confrontation followed, during which Saif was stabbed multiple times.
Apart from Saif, Philip and another domestic help also suffered injuries. The entire family, including Kareena Kapoor and their two sons, Jeh and Taimur, were present in the apartment at the time, along with five house staff.
Mumbai police officials have stated that they are leaving no stone unturned in tracking the attacker. “We have gathered substantial evidence and are intensifying efforts to locate the suspect,” said an official.
The incident has drawn widespread attention, leading Kareena Kapoor to release a public statement requesting privacy and space for the family to heal during this difficult time.
