Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati Booked Over Demolition In Hyderabad: Legal Trouble Mounts

“Telugu stars face allegations of illegal demolition, financial loss claims, and ongoing court directives in Hyderabad controversy.”

January 13, 2025: Prominent Telugu actors Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati, along with two other family members, have been named in a police case concerning the alleged illegal demolition of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel in Hyderabad’s Film Nagar. The Hyderabad Police registered the case following a directive from a local court, which acted on a complaint from Nanda Kumar, who claimed significant financial losses due to the demolition.

Allegations and Legal Backdrop
The controversy dates back to January 2024, when the Deccan Kitchen Hotel was reportedly demolished despite existing court orders from the City Civil Court and the Telangana High Court prohibiting such action. Nanda Kumar, the lessee of the property, alleged that the demolition caused him a financial loss of Rs 20 crore. Acting on his complaint, the court ordered an investigation into the Daggubati family’s involvement.

However, the situation is further complicated by Nanda Kumar’s history of legal issues. In 2022, he was implicated in an alleged MLA poaching case involving the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi). Additionally, parts of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel were previously demolished by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in November 2022 for being unauthorized constructions, which led to a separate legal battle with the Telangana High Court demanding explanations from GHMC.

Rana Daggubati’s Professional Front
While embroiled in legal troubles, Rana Daggubati continues his cinematic journey. He was last seen in the Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan, where he played a shrewd businessman with a limited yet impactful role. Reviews highlighted the film’s ensemble cast, with Rajinikanth and Fahadh Fasil taking center stage, but noted that Rana’s role added depth to the storyline’s climax.

What Lies Ahead?
The legal proceedings will shed more light on the allegations against the Daggubati family, as the Hyderabad Police proceed with their investigation. Meanwhile, the actors continue to balance their professional commitments amidst the ongoing controversy.
