For First Six Months Farah Khan Thought Her Husband Was Gay: ‘I Used to Hate Him’

February 10, 2025: Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan and filmmaker Shirish Kunder have been happily married for over two decades. Despite their enduring bond today, Farah recently revealed that her first impression of Shirish was less than favorable, leading her to dislike him initially.

In a candid conversation on Archana Puran Singh’s YouTube channel, Farah shared that she initially thought Shirish was gay. “I used to hate him. For six months, I thought he was gay,” Farah admitted with her trademark humor. When asked if she still harbors resentment, she quipped, “No. Now, I am used to him. It’s been 20 years. Earlier, he used to get angry. And when he did, it was very annoying because he would just keep quiet and torture you by not talking.”

Farah and Shirish met during the early 2000s when Shirish edited Farah’s directorial debut, Main Hoon Na. The collaboration blossomed into a romantic relationship, culminating in their marriage in 2004. Over the years, they’ve worked together on several projects, including Jaan-E-Mann, Om Shanti Om, and Tees Maar Khan. The couple is proud parents to three children—one son and twin daughters—born in 2008.
