January 6, 2025: The 82nd Golden Globe Awards kicked off the Hollywood award season in style on January 5, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles. Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the night celebrated outstanding achievements in film and television, with ‘Emilia Perez’ emerging as the winner in the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture category.

Payal Kapadia’s highly anticipated film, ‘All We Imagine As Light’, which had earlier won accolades at the Cannes Film Festival, missed out on the Golden Globe trophy. The Spanish drama ‘Emilia Perez’, directed by Jacques Audiard, took home the prestigious award, beating other contenders like ‘I’m Still Here,’ ‘The Girl with the Needle,’ ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig,’ and ‘Vermiglio.’

Despite the loss, Payal Kapadia has earned another nomination in the Best Director category, where she will compete against directors like Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Sean Baker (Anora), Edward Berger (Conclave), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance).

Leading the nominations this year is ‘Emilia Perez’ with 10 nods, followed by ‘The Brutalist’ (7 nominations) and ‘Conclave’ (6 nominations). Television hits like ‘The Bear,’ ‘Shogun,’ and ‘Baby Reindeer’ also dominated the spotlight.

Presenters for the evening included Andrew Garfield, Viola Davis, Anya Taylor-Joy, Aubrey Plaza, Jennifer Coolidge, Dwayne Johnson, Glenn Close, and many more Hollywood heavyweights.
