“Woh itne kamal ke filmmaker thay ki main unki films dekh ke hi sikha hoon (He was such an incredible filmmaker — I learned by watching his films). I regret never meeting him in person. He was a true son of the soil,” said Aamir, praising Manoj Kumar’s unmatched contribution to Indian cinema.
Also spotted at the venue were Jaya Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Zayed Khan, Esha Deol, and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Jaya Bachchan was seen interacting with composer Anu Malik, while Farhan was accompanied by his mother Honey Irani.
Other veteran artists who turned up to offer condolences included Prem Chopra, Rakesh Roshan, and Asha Parekh, who all shared fond memories and gratitude for the cinematic legacy Manoj Kumar left behind.
Fondly known as Bharat Kumar, Manoj Kumar was renowned for his evocative and nationalistic films that struck a chord with audiences across generations. Classics like Kranti, Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and Shaheed elevated him to legendary status and earned him lifelong admiration for his patriotic storytelling.
The prayer meet was not just a ceremony but a celebration of a man who embodied cinematic passion, national pride, and timeless artistry. As the film fraternity mourns his loss, Manoj Kumar’s influence on Indian cinema — especially its portrayal of patriotism — will continue to inspire generations.
