Jim Carrey’s $20M LA Mansion Faces Threat from Expanding Wildfires Amid Pending Sale

“As Los Angeles wildfires intensify, Jim Carrey’s longtime Brentwood mansion, which recently found a buyer, is at risk as evacuation orders are issued for the area.”

January 14, 2025: Jim Carrey’s iconic Brentwood mansion is under threat as devastating wildfires continue to spread across Los Angeles, leaving thousands of homes in ruins. The Sonic the Hedgehog star’s property, which recently entered escrow after being on the market for nearly two years, faces an uncertain future as the fires edge closer to the upscale neighborhood.

Carrey’s 10,954-square-foot estate was originally listed for $28.9 million in early 2023 but underwent multiple price cuts before being revised to $19.75 million. The sprawling residence, featuring five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and amenities like a waterfall pool, an art deco theatre, and a tennis court, has been Jim Carrey’s home for nearly three decades.

The sale of the mansion, which had recently attracted a buyer, is now in limbo as the wildfires pose an imminent threat. The fires have already reached Mandeville Canyon Road, with containment efforts at just 14%. Residents in the area have been issued a Level 3 evacuation order, adding uncertainty to the property’s future.

Carrey’s Financial Struggles
The Hollywood legend, who previously hinted at retiring from acting, has attributed his continued work to financial pressures. Speaking at the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 red carpet in December, Carrey candidly said, “I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly.”

When listing the home, Carrey described it as a sanctuary he no longer uses frequently. “For three decades, it’s been a sanctuary for me, but I want someone else to enjoy it like I have,” he told the New York Post.

Wildfires Disrupt LA Luxury Market
The escalating wildfires not only threaten Carrey’s property but have also brought uncertainty to real estate deals in the region. While the fate of Carrey’s longtime residence hangs in the balance, the actor remains focused on his commitments, with the premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 coinciding with these developments.
