Karan Johar Reviews ‘Loveyapa’ as 2025’s First Love Story Hit
February 4, 2025: Karan Johar, known for his love for romantic tales, has lavished praise on Advait Chandan’s upcoming romantic comedy Loveyapa, which marks the theatrical debut of Junaid Khan (son of Aamir Khan) and Khushi Kapoor (daughter of the late Sridevi). The film is set to release in theaters this Friday, February 7, 2025.
Sharing the film’s poster on Instagram, Johar described Loveyapa as “2025’s first love story success story.” In his caption, he wrote, “#Loveyapa talks to the tech and app-obsessed Gen Z with a love story that is hugely entertaining and makes solid points with brevity and precision. You will fall in love with all the characters and root for the magical and endearing leads #junaidkhan and @khushikapoor.”
He further praised the director, saying, “Top credit to @advaitchandan for bringing pace, relentless energy, humor, emotion, and solid storytelling to the fore! Congratulations to Madhu Mantena, Shrishti Behl, and the entire cast and crew for the best popcorn ride I’ve had at the movies in a while!”
Khushi Kapoor shared Johar’s post on her Instagram Stories, expressing her gratitude with emojis.

Produced by Madhu Mantena and Shrishti Behl of Phantom Films, Loveyapa revolves around a couple whose budding romance takes an unexpected turn when the girl’s father forces them to swap phones. Featuring a stellar supporting cast that includes Ashutosh Rana and Kiku Sharda, the film promises to deliver laughs and emotional moments in equal measure.
Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor are not new to acting. Junaid made his debut with Siddharth P. Malhotra’s Maharaj in 2024, while Khushi starred in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix musical The Archies in 2023. Later this year, Khushi will also star alongside Ibrahim Khan in the Netflix original Nadaaniyan, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
