Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Struggles at Box Office, Collects This Much in Opening Weekend
October 14, 2024: Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, had a slow start at the box office following its Friday release. Despite competing against Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, the Rajkummar Rao starrer managed to edge out slightly in terms of weekend collections. However, both films struggled to gain significant momentum, even with the Dussehra holiday offering no major boost to their numbers.
The film opened with Rs 5.5 crore on its first day, followed by a modest 30% growth on Saturday, pulling in Rs 6.9 crore. On Sunday, Vicky Vidya… experienced a slight dip, earning Rs 6.25 crore. This brought the total box office collection for its opening weekend to Rs 18.65 crore, according to Sacnilk reports.
Meanwhile, Jigra managed to collect Rs 16.75 crore over its first weekend. While Jigra saw a higher growth percentage on Saturday compared to Vicky Vidya…, its performance was expected to taper off due to its appeal being more targeted toward multiplex audiences rather than mass centers.
Factors like the ongoing Navratri and Garba celebrations likely affected the audience turnout for both films, as many moviegoers chose to participate in festivities over going to theaters. Theatres have reported lower occupancy rates during this period.
With no major releases scheduled until Diwali, when Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 hit theaters, both Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Jigra have a window of opportunity to build momentum. Additionally, the cult classic Khosla Ka Ghosla is set to re-release in cinemas on October 18, potentially attracting audiences back to the theaters.
