Los Angeles [US], January 5: Actress Nicole Kidman delivered an emotional tribute to her late mother, Janelle Kidman, while accepting the International Star Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival. The prestigious award was presented to her by fellow actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
During her acceptance speech, Kidman became visibly emotional as she reflected on her mother’s recent passing and expressed how deeply her career has been shaped by her parents’ love and support.
“Thank you for giving me the chance to say, ‘This is for my mom.’ My whole career has been for my mom and my dad, who are not here now. I’m still going to keep working and giving to the world because I love what I do and I love you all, and I’m so grateful for the privilege to be a part of the film community,” Kidman said, her voice trembling with emotion as the audience applauded warmly.
The actress also expressed gratitude to Halina Reijn, the director of her recent film Babygirl, for her belief in Kidman’s talent.
“I’m sorry that I’m crying, I didn’t want to do that,” she said, wiping away tears. “But I feel my mom right now, so this is for you.”
Kidman explained that she had been unable to dedicate an award to her mother at the Venice Film Festival, making this moment particularly significant.
Known for her powerful on-screen presence and dedication to her craft, Nicole Kidman remains one of Hollywood’s most celebrated and respected figures.
The Palm Springs International Star Award recognizes Kidman’s exceptional contributions to cinema, marking yet another milestone in her illustrious career.
