Ranveer Singh’s Shaktimaan-Inspired Superhero Film May Star Wamiqa Gabbi: Details Inside

January 13, 2025: Wamiqa Gabbi, who has garnered praise for her versatile performances in both Bollywood and regional films, is reportedly set to join Ranveer Singh in the much-anticipated Shaktimaan-inspired superhero film. Directed by Basil Joseph, known for his work on the hit Malayalam superhero movie Minnal Murali, the Bollywood adaptation of Shaktimaan has been in development for over five years.

According to a report in Mid-Day, Wamiqa is being considered for the lead role opposite Ranveer Singh in the project, which is set to begin shooting in May 2025. The film, produced by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, is slated for a 2026 release.

Versatility in Roles
Wamiqa Gabbi has been gaining traction for her wide range of roles, with recent highlights including her performance in Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh, and a part in Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla. Additionally, she is rumoured to be in talks for a Telugu film opposite Nani, further cementing her presence in the Indian film industry.

Project Updates
A source close to the production revealed that director Basil Joseph, despite being relatively new to Hindi cinema, has been actively holding script readings and discussions with Ranveer Singh in Mumbai. The project, which has been in pre-production for some time, is moving forward steadily. The insider mentioned, "If all goes as planned, the pairing of Ranveer Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi will bring a fresh energy to this iconic superhero adaptation."

Ranveer Singh, who is currently wrapping up work on Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, is expected to shift focus to the Shaktimaan project after March 2025. The superhero film aims to bring back the nostalgia of the original Shaktimaan series while catering to modern audiences with cutting-edge visuals and an engaging storyline.
