Taylor Swift Makes Billboard History with 10 Awards, Calls Them ‘Early Birthday Gifts’

The pop sensation thanks her fans for their unwavering support, becoming the most decorated artist in Billboard Music Awards history.

December 14, 2024: Taylor Swift’s birthday celebrations came early this year, as the singer received an unexpected yet heartwarming “early birthday present” from her dedicated fanbase. On Thursday, Swift won 10 Billboard Music Awards, making history as the most decorated artist in the award show’s history. The 35-year-old star now holds a total of 49 awards, surpassing previous record-holder Drake, who has 42.

The Billboard Music Awards, based on music chart performance, are a testament to the devotion of Swift’s fans. In her acceptance speech, Taylor described the recognition as “fan awards” and expressed deep gratitude toward the Swifties for their ongoing support.

Taylor Swift Thanks Fans for the Honor

During a pre-recorded message played at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by Michelle Buteau, Swift shared her excitement with her fans. “I just want to say hi and thank you to the Billboard Awards and thank you to the fans because Billboard is counting your stuff, they’re counting what you listen to, the albums that you’re passionate about,” she said.

Though she couldn’t attend the ceremony in person, Taylor marked the special occasion by spending the evening of her birthday visiting a children’s hospital in Kansas City. There, she met young fans and even admired a little girl who expressed her admiration for football player Travis Kelce.

A Heartfelt Digital Acceptance

Swift continued her digital acceptance speech by acknowledging the importance of her fans in her success. “I count these as fan awards because you guys are the ones who care about our albums and come see us in concert,” she said. “Everything that’s happened with The Eras Tour, and The Tortured Poets Department, I just have to say thank you.”

Concluding her message, the “Blank Space” singer added, “It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made and the fact that you care so much. This is like, the nicest early birthday present you could have given me. So thank you very much. I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted.”
