Akshay Kumar Opens Up About Box Office Setbacks, Stays Committed to Hard Work Ahead of 'Sky Force' Release
Mumbai, January 5: At the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Sky Force,' Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar candidly addressed the box office challenges he faced in 2024. Despite setbacks with films like 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' 'Sarfira,' and 'Khel Khel Mein,' Akshay emphasized his unwavering dedication to his craft and his commitment to delivering meaningful cinema.
Reflecting on his rollercoaster career spanning over three decades, Akshay stated, "It hasn't happened for the first time, this has happened before as well... and the best part is to keep working hard... that's what I tell myself."
Akshay acknowledged the advice he often receives to scale back on the number of films he works on each year. However, he firmly believes in his passion for his craft.
"Many people tell me that I should do just one or two films in a year, but I feel that if I can work, then why not keep doing it?" Akshay said.
Despite the lukewarm box office response to 'Sarfira,' Akshay fondly spoke about the film, calling it "one of my best films, even though it didn't perform well at the box office."
Akshay Kumar's next project, 'Sky Force,' is set against the backdrop of India's first and deadliest airstrike on Pakistan. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, the film narrates the story of an Indian Air Force officer (played by Akshay) who embarks on a daring mission to avenge fallen soldiers.
The film promises breathtaking aerial combat sequences, gripping storytelling, and a powerful tribute to India's armed forces. Joining Akshay in the film are debutant Veer Pahariya, who plays a fellow IAF officer, and Sara Ali Khan, who portrays Veer's wife. Nimrat Kaur also plays a pivotal role in the movie.
Set for a January 24, 2025 release, just ahead of Republic Day, 'Sky Force' is poised to deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience, blending action, emotion, and patriotism.
Akshay Kumar concluded by expressing his gratitude to his fans and reiterated his commitment to entertaining audiences with stories that matter.
