Will Mahesh Babu Play Lord Krishna in Kalki 2? Director Nag Ashwin Spills Tea!
December 31, 2024: Director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD emerged as one of the biggest cinematic spectacles of the year, captivating audiences with its fusion of futuristic sci-fi and ancient Indian mythology. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, the film carved its place among the highest-grossing movies, crossing ₹1,000 crore globally.
One of the film’s most discussed moments was a silhouette appearance of Lord Krishna during the pivotal Kurukshetra war scene. While Krishnakumar Balasubramanian portrayed the role briefly in the first film, speculations are rife about a bigger role for Krishna in the sequel, with superstar Mahesh Babu being the top contender.
In a recent interaction with Indian Express, Nag Ashwin addressed the rumours. He clarified, “I intentionally avoided showing Lord Krishna’s face in the first film. However, if we plan a full-length role for Krishna in the sequel, I believe Mahesh Babu would be the perfect choice. The film would undoubtedly achieve monumental success with his presence.”
Nag Ashwin further praised Mahesh Babu, adding, “I loved his performance in Khaleja. Even imagining him as Krishna feels fitting, and I am confident he would excel in the role.”
